to mold living clay

When we nurture strong relationships with our children, in a very real way, they become moldable clay in our hands. This is not to say that they don’t have their own unique personalities, characteristics, and talents—but when we put in the time and energy to build relationships, they feel that Christlike love and energy from us as parents. And when that Christlike love is present, our children have soft, open hearts towards us and what we do.

mount up with wings as eagles

Mount up with wings as eagles.  I love that phrase and imagery taken from Isaiah chapter 40.  I want to “mount up with wings as eagles” figuratively in how I live life!  Here are some of my thoughts on this topic.

Lately I have been thinking about seasons and energy and rest and goals and revelation.  Maybe it’s because in my heart I want to do so much!  But this season has been an exhausting one for me —wonderful, wonderful blessings, but none-the-less exhausting!  It has been an intensive season of work. happy birthday, jeremiah!

It is the time of the year for birthdays in our family, and I'm already behind!  We celebrated Jeremiah's birthday over the weekend.  Just so grateful for this guy.  I couldn't help but think back to our first date.  I had been on a vacation a couple of hours north at Bear Lake when he called.  I was so excited to go out with him that I came back early!  He showed up to my house in a purple t-shirt and we joke that he had a purple face!  Seriously, though, he had been at the pool all day and had a major sunburn!  Pretty funny.  In our move we came across that purple shirt all folded up in the closet, and I insisted we keep it.  It's part of our history.

My two brothers and all of their families who were able to attend came. How grateful I am for my siblings! Jeremiah's parents were there. We missed those who weren't able to attend, but were grateful for those who were there.

homeschooling through a month of thanks

And I love that during November and December we get to have a special focus on the months' holidays. Here are a few things we are doing this month to make it special:

halloween

So, Halloween has never been my favorite.  But during the last few years it has really grown on me!  We're starting to establish some really fun family traditions.  We do the usual pumpkin carving and this year we added some simple art projects while listening to some silly Halloween music.  I even taught the boys a part of the Michael Jackson Thriller dance!  It was so fun.  I grew up loving to dance, so that was kind of fun for me.
